PROVIDENCE NEIGHBORHOOD, TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA
Providence was selected as the second Renaissance Partnership neighborhood.
Initial meetings have taken place. Presentations about the neighborhood were made
to the City of Tallahassee, Leon County Board of County Commissioners, and the
Leon County School Board.
A survey of the neighborhood has been completed by the Tallahassee-Leon County
Planning Department with assistance from the Florida State University School of
Regional and Urban Planning and neighborhood residents. The survey include a physical
assessment and mapping of the neighborhood, including a housing inventory, road
network survey, assessment of safety issues, including streelighting, overgrown
lots and vacant lots. The survey findings were presented at the January 27, 2003,
meeting of the Providence Neighborhood Association.
Neighborhood community meetings will begin in February 2003.
